From many decades, weight loss is a hot burning topic. On social media we found various diet plans, workout plan claiming certain amount of weight loss in a month. A novice to the field of fitness, found them very attractive and they directly dive into the process of weight loss. As claimed by so many articles and videos people seeks instant results and want to get back in shape withing few weeks. But they do not know that rapid instant weight loss having their own side effects on body. Many of my clients also asked me how much weight loss in a month considered healthy and I always replied to them “It depends on many factors”. So, today let’s find “How Much Weight Loss is good in a month? and factors affecting that.” 

Safe Limit of Weight Loss in a Month: When we are following proper diet and do certain lifestyle changes, we get the results definitely. The slower and steadier the progress the more sustainable will be the results. According to research a weekly .5kg to 1 kg fall on weight is considered healthy. It means in a month 2 to 4 kgs is safe to lose weight. The gradual approach not only helps in losing fat but also in maintaining weight loss over time.

Slow Is Better: Rapid weight loss brings so many things along with it, like muscle loss, slow metabolism, lack of energy, loss of glow on face, nutritional deficiencies and sometimes hair fall too. Slower weight loss takes time but will be tough to get back that lose weight. It also preserves muscle mass and tends to burn extra pounds via fat loss.

Intake of Calories less than BMR leads to severe starvation, nutrition deficiencies and other health issues. Extreme dieting or been dependent on external source for energy like powders and supplements often results in a rebound effect, where the weight lost is quickly regained, sometimes with additional pounds.
